The Australian Native Tea tree makes a beautiful bonsai with its many flowering varieties. Check out our estore where you will find a lovely cascade specimen with white blooms. Australian Native plants are difficult trees to apply the bonsai techniques.  Some varieties will die back from the wiring process, others won't cope with the root pruning.  The key to working with the Australian native bonsai is by minimising the disruption to the root system and pot in a low phosphate soil.

Australian Native Tea Tree Bonsai - Broom Styling

 

COMMON NAME: Tea Tree.

BOTANICAL NAME: Leptospermum Longeria.

STYLING: Broom

 

This species was given its name 'Tea Tree' due to the practice of early European settlers of using the leaves of some species as a tea substitute. This beautiful bonsai is ready to burst open fresh spring buds which appear as light purple candle like formations. The trunk has a nice texture with well established branches. This bonsai is presented in a lovely glazed bonsai dish, capped off with a natural sand base, and beautifully presented with a simple rock landscape.
